2026 Workshop Descriptions
There are three workshop blocks on Saturday, with three workshops running simultaneously! In early March, we’ll take a show of hands to see which workshops you’re planning to attend.
We’ve got some amazing players and teachers joining us, people I love and admire. Each workshop is meant to give you something you can really use: little breakthroughs that make your uke time more fun and your playing more your own. Every one of these classes brings something fresh, useful, and fun. You’ll leave with new songs, new skills, and that happy buzz that comes from being around other uke lovers. Take a look at what’s coming up!
Brittni Paiva
Workshops:
Jam Without a Plan: You know that feeling when you just want to play, not follow a chart, just go where the music takes you? That’s exactly what Brittni helps you tap into. She’ll show you how to loosen up, create melodies on the fly, and bring your songs to life in the moment. It’s about trusting your ear, relaxing your hands, and letting the music flow naturally.
Fill the Thrill: Ukulele Embellishments: Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big difference. Brittni shares her tricks for adding those fills, runs, and flourishes that turn a simple tune into something memorable. It’s not about showing off, it’s about giving your songs a personal touch and making them shine.
Jeff Peterson
Workshops:
Hawaiian Style: No one captures that warm, flowing Hawaiian sound quite like Jeff. In this workshop, he’ll guide you through fingerstyle arrangements of classic island tunes. You’ll learn vamps, strumming patterns, and melodic phrasing that bring out the heart of Hawaiian music. You’ll also explore chord inversions and those beautiful moving sixths that make the sound so distinctive.
Moving Chord Shapes: Jeff makes it easy to unlock the whole fretboard. He’ll show you how to take three- and four-note chord shapes and move them up and down the neck so you can play in any key. You’ll use them in real chord progressions and different styles, and suddenly the fretboard starts to make sense in a whole new way.
